Herzlich Willkommen beim Germanic-American Institute!

Welcome to the Germanic-American Institute. We are a Minnesota non-profit whose mission is to foster appreciation and understanding of the culture, language, arts, and ongoing history of the German-speaking peoples through public educational and cultural programs.

The GAI is a co-founder and sponsor of the Twin Cities German Immersion School, a public charter located in St.Paul, serving children in kindergarten through 8th grade.

We'll go underground at Schmidt Artist Lofts Tunnel Gallery with special film screenings, curated sounds by DJ ESP, and surprise performers. Come as you are or take the opportunity to wear your best 80s threads or DIY Dilletanten wearable art.

Wasserkraft (Hydropower) for Kids: A German and Science Workshop
Kids grades K–4 will explore hydropower in this 3-hour hands-on science and German workshop, the first in a three-part series about sustainable energy.

9 a.m. to noon for kindergarten to 1st grade
1 to 4 p.m. for 2nd to 4th grade

Spend some time with fellow language students and GAI community members to practice German in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. Held in the GAI Ratskeller, registration includes one beverage.

Balkan Cooking: Banitsa
Sunday, November 4,1–3 PM
Learn how to make banitsa, a Bulgarian savory pastry made with whisked eggs and cheese in filo dough. Variations abound, and you can make and take home banitsa with your favorite ingredients. Taught  by the women of BIBACH (Balcanicus Institute of Art, Culture and History). Registration
