Herzlich Willkommen beim Germanic-American Institute!

Welcome to the Germanic-American Institute. We are a Minnesota non-profit whose mission is to foster appreciation and understanding of the culture, language, arts, and ongoing history of the German-speaking peoples through public educational and cultural programs.

The GAI is a co-founder and sponsor of the Twin Cities German Immersion School, a public charter located in St.Paul, serving children in kindergarten through 8th grade.

Are you interested in learning German, but aren't sure what to expect? Join us for a two hour Introduction to German class on Saturday, August 18 at 10 a.m. Registration includes Kaffee und Kuchen, starting at 9 a.m. Register today!

Friday happy hour is back! Gather in the GAI Ratskeller with language students and others who want to practice German conversation, vocabulary, and grammar in a relaxed and fun atmosphere. $10 registration includes one beverage (we recommend beer). Register here

Come see what’s new in the GAI Bibliothek! Over the past year and a half, many new organizational improvements have been made to the GAI library (Bibliothek), thanks to volunteer Mark Jensen. One highlight is a special section for learners of German, arranged by reading level. Stop by to pick up your German summer reading! More info about library improvements
