Membership
Anyone is welcome to become a member of the GAI!
GAI Membership is valid for one year from the date of joining or renewing. Membership, less the fair market value of offered benefits, is tax-deductible.
Basic Levels:- Individual - $35 (Valid for one person)
- Household - $65 (Valid for two adults and all children under 18 living at the same address. All household members receive membership benefits)
- Senior - $30 (Valid for one or two adults age 60+)
- Full-time Student - $20 (Valid for one full-time student)
Premium Levels:
- Contributing - $100 (Includes two vouchers, $15 each, for a GAI event or language class)
- Supporting - $250 (Includes two vouchers, $25 each, for a GAI event or language class)
- Patron - $1,000 (Includes two vouchers, $50 each, for a GAI event or language class)
- Bronze - $5,000
- Gold - $10,000
Membership Benefits
In addition to being part of the largest community in the Midwest that shares an interest in Germanic culture, history, language, and current events, GAI members receive the following member benefits:
- A monthly subscription to our newsletter, as well as our mid-month Überblick of upcoming events and opportunities
- Discounts on German language and culture classes
- Discounts on tickets to GAI events, as well as events offered by partner organizations
- Access to our library, which includes free check-out of books, movies, and board games for both adults and children
- Discounts on Haus rental and catering services
- German culture, interest-based groups for people of all ages
- An opportunity to participate in or volunteer at events including the GAI's Deutsche Tage weekend festival, Holiday Open Haus, Winterfest Karneval, book readings, lectures, concerts, and much more
The GAI also establishes partnerships with local German businesses and organizations that offer discounts to GAI members. For restaurants and retail shops, members may be asked to present their membership card.
