The Germanic-American Institute and Paulaner Beer are brewing up a new festival to celebrate the “Father of all Strong Beer”, Paulaner Salvator. Brewed since 1634, Salvator, which means “Saint Father” or “savior”, was first created in Munich by 17th century monks as a strengthening drink to help them through 40 days of fasting during Lent. This “liquid bread”, a doppelbock Starkbier, is rich and full bodied with a superb balance. Adhering to the original recipe, with only minor refinements, Salvator remains true to its world-renowned reputation.
Along with Salvator, we’ll also be serving Paulaner Lager, Hacker-Pschorr Dunkel, Hacker-Pschorr Weisse, NA Weizen-Radler and Northern Soda Company craft sodas. Like a mini-Oktoberfest, there will be activities for the whole family, from German Tracht contests to beer poking (putting a red-hot poker in your beer for a new flavor sensation) to sing-alongs. Come celebrate with us!
