ADVANCED German Courses

Advanced Mittelstufe Review B1+

This transition course is for the Intermediate / Mittelstufe students who already have a solid proficiency in German and want to increase their fluency through vocabulary expansion and practice of intermediate and advanced grammar concepts. Completion of G500 / G600 or equivalent (five semesters of German) recommended. This class focuses on thorough review of 'B1+' level of proficiency according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

AMR B1+ class meets once a week for 2.5 hours for 18 weeks

The advanced framework then continues with Oberstufe B2 level courses ( Oberstufe 1-B2.1 and Oberstufe 2- B2.2) - See attached chart for more information 

ADVANCED Intermediate 

                B2 You can understand the main contents of complex texts on concrete and abstract topics; also understand specialized discussions in your primary area of specialization. You can communicate so spontaneously and fluently that a normal conversation with native speakers is easily possible without a great deal of effort on either side. You can express yourself on a wide range of topics in a clear and detailed manner, explain your position on a current issue and indicate the benefits and drawbacks of various options. (B2)

B2 classes meet  once a week for 2.5 hours for 14 weeks

 ADVANCED - AUTONOMOUS LANGUAGE ABILITY

            C1 – You can understand a wide range of challenging, longer texts and grasp implicit meanings. Can express yourself spontaneously and fluently without having to search for words frequently and noticeably. You can use the language effectively and flexibly in your social and professional life or in training and studies. You can make clear, structured and detailed statements on complex topics and apply various means of text association appropriately in the process. (C1)

C1 classes meet  once a week for 2.5 hours for 14 weeks

                C2 You can effortlessly understand practically everything you read or hear. You can summarize information from various written and spoken sources, logically recounting the reasons and explanations. You can express yourself spontaneously with high fluency and precision and make finer nuances of meaning clear in more complex topics. (Oberstufe LK C+)

Oberstufe LK C+ session meets once a week for 2 hours for 8 weeks
