There is never a dull moment at Deutsche Tage. From music to cultural demonstrations, from crafts to games & contests, there is something for everyone at Deutsche Tage. You can plan your weekend by reading the descriptions of our activities available all weekend long or by following the links in the toolbar below for specific interests.

Activities Available All Weekend 

Culture Demonstrations

When: Saturday, 12pm-5pm, Sunday, 12pm-4pm
Where: On the Grounds - Culture Stage

Stop by the Kulturplatz to view some fair-style demonstrations of various German crafts, foods, and past times. This year we have doubled the number of presentations, with different demos occuring on each day. Come to both days of Deutsche Tage to see different demos each time!
Demos this year include Homemade Sauerkraut, Potato Pancakes, Pysanky Egg Decoration, German Liquor Distilling, Baglama playing, Genealogy basics, How to Polka, and more!
Plus, on Sunday afternoon, you have the opportunity to participate by competing in a Pretzel Eating Contest or a Stein-holding Contest.

Viennese Kaffeehaus

When: 1pm-5pm, Saturday and Sunday
Where: In the GAI Haus

Treat yourself to the elegant and subtle art of Viennese-style coffee. Both afternoons this weekend, our dining rooms will be transformed into an authentic Viennese Kaffeehaus. Sip on a Kaffee Maria Theresia while reading a Zeitung auf Deutsch or enjoy a slice of Kuchen provided by the GAI's Deutscher Damenklub. Both cold and hot coffee drinks will be available for purchase.

After 4pm on Saturday, the Kaffeehaus will also be serving Baklava for Turkish Night.

Exhibit: The Life of Luther and the Birth of the Reformation

When: All Day
Where: In the GAI Haus

Celebrate the 500 year anniversary of the Reformation with a unique exhibit. Learn about the life of Martin Luther and how the reformation began through a variety of historic documents on display. Luther Seminary has generously loaned some of their most treasured parchments, portraits, bibles, and books of and by Luther, and a double set reprint of the 1534 bible will be available to peruse thanks to Concordia University.

Interactive Art Station by Simply Jane

When: All weekend
Where: On the Grounds

Make you own craft or work of art with Simply Jane.  The art station offers a variety of projects appropriate for different age levels. 

When: All weekend
Where: On the Grounds

Play a game of horseshoes or cornhole with your friends while sipping a Bier, or have th kids compete in sack races, soccer shoot out, or lawn bowling. 

Special Game & Fundraiser: Nails and Ales - 21+ ONLY
Supplied by our Local 21 Firefighters, play this classic game for only $2 a hit, with all proceeds donated to the GAI. 
To play the game, you try to drive a nail into a stump with a single swing, using the wedge end of a hammer. Take a turn, then pass the hammer. The first person to sink the nail wins!

BMW Motorcycle Club

When: All weekend
Where: On the Grounds (in front of Haus)

View these expertly maintained, German-made motorcycles and chat with BMW Motorcycle Club members.
