German Summer Camps 

German Language Camps for kids from 5 yrs to 13 yrs
Half-day, Full-Day, and Extended Care Options


The 2020 GAI German Summer Camp program for children will take place June 22 - August 28 at the GAI. Each camp will last one week (M-F) and is centered around a fun, highly-interactive theme.

German beginners to bilingual campers are welcome, as different activities will be offered according to the children's language skills. Teachers and children will speak, hear, sing, and create in German while exploring subjects including arts & crafts, geography, cooking, science, photography and more 

WEEKLY CAMP FEES: $150.00 GAI members / $170.00 non-members  Camp is scheduled Monday -Friday* from 9:00am-12:00pm. (*except 4th of July week) 

  • Early morning drop-off starting at 8:30am at no additional charge (Program begins at 9:00am)
  • Afternoon care from noon to 5:00pm ($125 / week). In the afternoon, children will continue to play, read, write, and interact in German. A healthy snack will be provided during the afternoon only; pick up no later than 5:30pm.

All of our camp instructors are professional German teachers & educators with training and experience in teaching German as a foreign language. The GAI is a local non-profit organization committed to providing the highest quality German language instruction at affordable, family-friendly prices.

Week 1: June 22 - June 26, 2020
KLEINE KÜNSTLER (Little Artists) Kids find their inner artist and explore different media and techniques each day. Children will draw, paint, sculpt and create their personal pieces of art.

Week 2: June 29 - July 2, 2020 (4 days only) 
ACHTUNG ... AUFNAHME! (Photography Camp) In this camp the kids will experiment with different cameras and capture images of the world around them.

Week 3: July 6 - July 10, 2020  
MINT FÜR KINDER (STEM Science Camp) Kids will explore basic science, nature, and the environment, and conduct fun experiments.

Week 4: July 13 - July 17, 2020
 (German Fairy Tales) Campers will read and perform original stories by the Brothers Grimm and other authors.

Week 5: July 20 - July 24, 2020
ROBOTIK FÜR KINDER (Robotics for kids) Basics and introduction to robotics for children with hands-on activities and crafts.

Week 6: July 27 - July 31, 2020 
UNTER DEM MEER (Under the Sea) Uncover the world of the deep while learning about sea creatures and marine habitats, experiment with wave bottles, and build coral reefs.

Week 7: August 3 - August 7, 2020
GEHEIMAGENTEN UNTERWEGS (Spy Camp) You’ll need top security clearance for this mission! We will make invisible ink, learn about fingerprints, create secret identities, and solve mysteries together.

Week 8: August 10 - August 14, 2020
KRIBBEL - KRABBEL (Creepy Crawlies) Sn
akes & centipedes, butterflies & beetles, join us to learn about creepy crawlies in our own backyard. We will collect insects, weave spiderwebs, and much more!

Week 9: August 17 - August 21, 2020
REISE UM DIE WELT (Journey Around the World)  Kids travel the world, explore continents and geography, learn about different cultures, languages and the United Nations.

Week 10: August 24 - August 28, 2020
KINDER IN DER KÜCHE (Kids in the Kitchen) E
xplore native German dishes and nutrition. Kids will bring home a sample dish each day and a cookbook at the end of the week. (We do our best to accommodate children with allergies and NO NUTS will be used. However, dishes may contain gluten, eggs or dairy.)

MINT (STEM) camps for pre-teen The sessions will include hands-on experiments and crafts. The German series 'Lingo macht MINT' will be used 

The camps will be taught in German and English to make them accessible to all children. However, there will be a significant German language component, and the kids will learn German words and phrases about the weekly themes and topics 

Session 1: July 13 - July 17, 2020  

FEUER AUF DER ERDE (Fire on Earth) Fire provides light and warmth, but fire is also dangerous; 

learn about fire in the context of geography, chemistry, and technology

Session 2: August 3 - August 7, 2020

INSEKTEN AUF DER WELT (Insects on Earth) They fly, hum, creep & crawl; learn about 

insects in the context of biology, physics, and chemistry

Session 3: August 17, August 21, 2020

BÄUME ZUM LEBEN (Trees for Life) Trees are the superheroes amongst plants; learn 

all about trees in the context of geography, technology, and biology

Registration Information

Camps will fill on a first-come, first-served basis. Course fees are due in full at the time of registration, unless other arrangements have been made with Language Services. As camps reach capacity, names can be added to a Wait List.

Refund Policy
  • Camp and afternoon care canceled by the GAI: 100% refund (no processing fee)
  • Up to 2 weeks before start of camp: 100%, less a $50 processing fee per child
  • No refunds will be issued less than 2 weeks before the start of the camp 

Afternoon Care

  • Afternoon care can be added until the week prior to the scheduled camp. 
  • Afternoon care additions during the week of camp week will be charged the Drop-In rate of $40/day. Payment is due at the time of service.

The GAI offers a limited number of scholarships to children, which will cover 50% of the camp and care costs.
