In Germany, Spargelzeit (asparagus season) is a spring-time phenomenon. Through April and May, asparagus is available in markets, at roadside stands, and on restaurant and home menus. There are many reasons to love asparagus—it's one of the first spring vegetables, it's healthy and low in calories (not counting the sauce), and it's delicious!
