EXPERIENCE / EDUCATION

1) High school diploma or GED equivalency

1) 4,160 hours as assistant teacher AND 24 quarter credits in child-care related field*
2) Diploma from Association Montessori Internationale; OR preprimary credential, primary diploma, or provisional certification from the American Montessori Society, WITHOUT a baccalaureate(BA) degree 2) 2,080 hours as assistant teacher, aide or student intern AND 12 quarter credits in child-care related field*
3) Preprimary credential, primary diploma, or provisional certification from the American Montessori Society, WITH a baccalaureate(BA) degree 3) 1,040 hours as assistant teacher, aide or student intern AND (no additional education requirement)
4) Minnesota technical institute certificate as a Child Development Assistant 4) 2,080 hours as assistant teacher AND 6 quarter credits in child-care related field*
5) Child Development Associate credential (center based or family day care) for preschool or for infants and toddlers from the Council for Early Childhood Professional Recognition 5) 1,560 hours as assistant teacher, aide or student intern AND (no additional education requirement)
6) License from the Minnesota Department of Children, Families and Learning for a Prekindergarten Associate; OR a certificate or credential from a two-year program from an accredited community college or technical college in child development or early childhood education 6) 1,040 hours as assistant teacher, aide or student intern AND 6 quarter credits in child-care related field*
7) Baccalaureate (BA) degree from an accredited college or university in any field 7) 1,040 hours as assistant teacher, aide or student intern AND 18 quarter credits in child-care related field*
8) License from the Minnesota Department of Children, Families and Learning for elementary education WITHOUT a kindergarten endorsement 8) 520 hours as assistant teacher, aide or student intern if teaching children under school age AND 6 quarter credits in child-care related field within one year of initial employment if teaching children under school age*
9) License from the Minnesota Department of Children, Families and Learning for prekindergarten/nursery; or a license from the Minnesota Department of Children, Families and Learning for elementary education WITH a kindergarten endorsement 9) (no additional experience requirement) (no additional education requirement)
